Photoshoot with Lucy Ridges
Well this post is long overdue! Last year I had the pleasure of meeting Lucy Ridges, a wonderfully talented photographic artist.
I was looking for a photographer to work with on my blog title photoshoot and ‘About page’ photos. As soon as I saw Lucy’s work, I loved her originality and artistic approach – I knew it’d be ideal for HollyGoesLightly. I wanted something a bit different with an artistic and sophisticated feel and if you take a look at her website, you can see the array of amazing work she’s done.
Now I am no model and although I can take a half-decent selfie and pose in front of the camera when drunk, I’ve not worked with a professional photographer many times before (apart from my engagement shoot and wedding photos of course). It was therefore important that I felt comfortable with someone and could also be directed a little. Lucy was brill at this!
So off I went to her studios one weekend, my wonderful friend and hair-stylist Victoria in tow, along with another friend Lucy who helped out with my make-up. I had a few ideas for how I wanted the photos to look but Lucy Ridges and I left a lot of the deciding until the day…sometimes the best things come without thinking too much! We had a few different “looks” and tried out a few techniques to get the shots we wanted. Lucy works with both digital and analogue cameras and what I love about her portraits, is the fact that it’s not forced or posed. I’m not one for cheesy smiles (often) you see.
Now I won’t do her justice if I try to go into too much detail about her photographic processes and artistry, so I’ll just let the photos do the talking for themselves…
I’m sure you can see why I was extremely happy with the results! I’ll be doing a behind-the-scenes post soon, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.
If you’re looking for an amazing photographer, be sure to get in touch with Lucy Ridges and let her know you heard about her here 🙂
