Family Holiday Photography – Wales
Recently we ventured out with our friends and their kids to North Wales for a relaxing beach holiday getaway. I went armed with my Canon DSLR and we had the best weather and the BEST light for our family holiday photography. I was beaming and couldn’t stop shooting – I took thousands of shots and have had so much fun looking through them and picking my favourites.
If you’ve followed this blog or my instagram, you’ll know I’m really into photography, particularly shooting people and particularly lifestyle photography (i.e.. capturing moments and nothing too posed). Now we have a child, it’s even more important to me to capture the memories that we’re making together. So no better opportunity than on our holiday to the beach…

I’ve recently run two workshops with WeBlogMCR, with the awesome photographer Georgie Glass, who has taught me how to get off the auto mode on my camera. Something has finally clicked and I’ve become more comfortable with using the aperture priority mode and now even full manual…say what?!
It’s made such a difference to my photos (I think!) and it’s given me a new satisfaction when I get that desired shot.
So I’ll stop talking and start showing…

What an amazing time we had frolicking in the sand and paddling in the ice-cold sea.
I literally couldn’t put my camera down and am so happy with the results. These are just a handful – I’m sure I’ll post some more soon. But I know I’ll cherish these photos forever and one day, will be sat with our daughter as an adult, showing her pictures of her first proper beach holiday with her friends.
Do you take family photos on holiday? Do you have a DSLR? Any tips?
You can see another post of my lifestyle photography too – hopefully there’ll be more to come!
