Getting Ready for Festival No.6 and Win Tickets to attend too!
So Festival season is definitely upon us – you only have to look out the window, at the drizzly grey skies and know it’s British summertime! I’ve got to say, since becoming a mum, we thought our festival-ing days were long behind us…until…we heard about Festival No.6! Our partying days are not over. We can still say “we’re going to a festival” when all our single twenty-something friends regale their hedonistic summer schedule. We can still wear denim shorts, wellies and a rain-mac with the best of them! Phew!
So What is Festival No.6 and why is it perfect for thirty-something mamas like me?
Festival No.6 is a total takeover of the Welsh seaside resort Portmeirion and is a family-friendly festival, full of glamping, good music and street art. It’s a little bit different than your average festival and oozes style and sophistication (a lot like myself) – with music, arts and culture at it’s heart, it really is unique…
I mean you’ve only got to read their website: “Our Main Stage is a Mediterranean-inspired, Grade II listed fantasy village, surrounded by estuary, mountains and woodlands.” I mean seriously!
And I’m sooooo excited to say that I’m an official blog ambassador for this year’s festival and am bubbling with excitement as it’ll be our first year at Festival No.6. Eek!
What am I most excited about at Festival No.6?
Well…where do I start? Mostly, I can’t wait to discover:
the hot tub sessions, Judy’s affordable vintage fair, the Heliosphere, paddle-boarding, Torchlit Processions and the incredible SGT PEPPER’S THEMED CARNIVAL!
Woohoo! That doesn’t even get us started! And for those of you that don’t have kids, you can enjoy all of this totally kid-free but us parents will appreciate that there’s so much we can do with a toddler in tow!
A Festival for Foodies
Obviously, being the food-obsessive that I am, I’m already planning what we’re going to eat at Festival No.6. The fact that they bill it as “A Weekend of Indulgence” is just fine by me! I’m mostly salivating at the prospect of eating:
dinner at Som Saa with their thai banquet menu, Anna Mae’s Mac n’ Cheese, Claw (seafood), Crepe Lucette, Gandhi’s Flip-Flop, Lickalix (healthy iced-treats), Pop Dogs, The Waffle Float and The Whole Cheese…
Do you think that’ll get us started? I literally have a huge smile on my face as I’m writing this post! I’m worried that we won’t get our way through the lot.
What about the Kids?
Well as I said, I’m now a thirty-something mama and there’s not many places I go without my two-year-old in tow. I’m a firm believer that having a child enhances your life and doesn’t have to change it. It doesn’t have to change who you are! And me and the hubby are music loving, food-eating, late-night wine-drinking, festival lovers…so why should that change? Ok, so we’ll have to take it in turns to indulge in a glass or three of wine and we’ll have a little person boogying-on down with us…but that makes it even more fun right?
Well the thing I’m most excited about at Festival No.6 is the fact that they cater for children and families. You’re not an inconvenience and single, childless couples don’t roll their eyes at you when they look down and see a small child holding your hand.
So with our little lady, we’re planning on hitting-up the following family-friendly activities:
Rave-A-Roo (KIDS-PLAY-RAVE-REPEAT), Pirate training and The Little Big Top (family theatre, crafts, comedy and games). Â
She’s not going to know what’s hit her and we get to have all this fun together, as a family.
The Line-up
Of course you could be forgiven for totally forgetting that at the centre of Festival No.6, is its awesome line-up of music, with so much going on! But the line-up is truly eclectic and awesome this year, with music to suit every ear. My stand-outs are:
Rag’N’Bone Man, Bloc Party (old faves of mine!), Goldie and The Town Hall Sessions.
We’re going to be dancing our socks off all weekend at this rate! (At least we’ll be burning-off all that delicious grub!) and I look forward to discovering new acts that I’ve not heard of before.
Sleeping Under the Stars
Then, once we’ve raved, played and eaten our way through the festival each day, we’ll be sleeping under the stars! From camping, to bell tents, to tipis, to the boathouse, to a castle…there’s accommodation to suit everyone and every budget! But where will we be sleeping?…
Tune into my instagram and my insta stories of where we’ll be sleeping and exactly what we get up to at Festival No.6 on 7th – 10th September!
