30th Birthday Party at King Street Townhouse
So yes, I know it’s hard to believe, but this is now a Lifestyle Blog of a thirty-something! I turned the big 3-0 recently and had a ball of a time! In fact, my birthday celebrations have extended throughout the whole of July, lucky me.
My wonderful hubby did a sterling job of organising me a suprise 30th birthday party and I genuinely had NO IDEA! God knows how he got that one past me, but I was thrown off the scent time and time again and right up until the last minute, I thought we were just going for a nice meal, the three of us.
So here’s me all dressed-up with the little lady (me in H&M, her in Ted Baker…how does that work?!), thinking that we’re off for a dinner at King Street Townhouse.
I’ve got to say, that I was a little confused (and troubled) by the fact that we were off out on a Saturday night with our 11-month old and expecting dinner to be a relaxing experience. I mean, the little lady is fab, but it was nearing her bedtime and I wasn’t convinced that I wouldn’t be wolfing-down my meal and in a cab home by 9pm.
But oh no, the hubby had something else planned. In fact, he’d hired a private room in King Street Townhouse and organised for lots of my friends and families to travel-up from all over the country and be there, ready and waiting to jump out and surprise me. Which they did! Gits!
I was shocked, cried a little bit and totally overwhelmed. What a legend he is!
And as if he knows me so well, he’d also organised for Imperial Photobooth to provide us with one of their awesome booths, so I could pose-away all night with my loved-ones.
And here’s some of my favourite snaps from the evening…
Again, as if he couldn’t be more thoughtful, he also organised the biggest (this photo gives no idea of scale) and most delicious chocolate and salted-caramel cake from Hey Little Cupcake. Gosh this was scrummy (and served about 30 people and then me and him for another 3 days afterwards).
Back to the party…the venue was stunning and I even got to pose with giant 3-0 helium balloons (a blogger’s ideal instagram fodder).
And as a fantastic memento, the Imperial Photobooth prints out 2 copies of all photos taken, so your friends can take home one strip and you get to keep one for your album (you also get them digitally by the way, so no rude ones!). I’ve loved looking back at them (sober) – I made sure I took a photo with nearly everyone there.
We ate, drank and danced our way into the small hours and I was surrounded by the people I love most in the world.
Oh and if you want to see the genuine surprise (and embarrassment), here’s a little Vimeo…

Thanks to King Street Townhouse Manchester for being such a cool venue (and to the fantastic manager on duty, who looked after us all night and made us feel like nothing was too much trouble), to everyone that came and to an amazing hubby for organising such a fabulous shindig. It’ll definitely be one I never forget.
Have you got a milestone birthday coming up? Or what did you do for your last party shenanigans?
