Strawberries and Dream: Summer High Tea at Grand Pacific Manchester

If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you’ll know that I’m a lady that enjoys an Afternoon Tea! I like to say my experience knowledge of afternoon teas is becoming quite extensive. Basically, I know a good one when I have it! So today, in this almost seasonal weather, I’m here to tell you about the strawberry themed Summer high tea at Grand Pacific Manchester…

High Tea or Afternoon Tea…it’s pretty much the same thing these days…us British like to fill the gap between Lunch and Dinner, (or Dinner and Tea, as us Northerners say) with tea, cakes and sandwiches. Who wouldn’t!?

It’s a delightful thing to partake in and every venue has their own twist and personality in their Afternoon teas. This is part of the fun of trying them out in different places, as you get a slightly different experience each time. I’ve enjoyed Afternoon Tea at Grand Pacific Manchester before and first and foremost, the setting is exactly what you want to enjoy a girly afternoon within. It’s grand, but not stuffy, full of windows and light and total #interiorgoals!

The four of us settled in to peruse the menu, choose our teas and await our Strawberries and Dream Afternoon Tea. Kat chose one of the strawberry-based cocktails to accompany her first round of delicacies and I went for the classic but oh-so-delicious, Rosé Champagne to sip during mine.

Of course Grand Pacific Manchester like to do things a little differently, with their own unique take on the great British tradition. So firstly, I love that the savouries are brought to the table first, to enjoy them entirely and presented on their gorgeous pineapple cake-stands (which I would LOVE to have in my own home!).

Beginning with an array of savoury bites such as Eccles cake with cheese, salmon and tuna tartare, forbidden rice arancini, chicken sandwiches and potato cake with smoked salmon…

The Eccles cake with cheese is outstanding and something that I feel should be readily available everywhere you go! But My favourites of this round were the arancini and the Crumpet with Lobster butter (oh. my. gosh). The savoury stand disappeared quite quickly, as did the champagne! So our teas were then brought to the table, quickly followed by the sweet selection (I went for the fragrant loose leaf Moroccan mint tea).

…guests will then indulge in a plethora of strawberry treats including fresh strawberries with creamy panna cotta, strawberry and lemon tart, dark chocolate dipped strawberries and strawberry shake, to name a few.

There’s no denying that the High Tea at Grand Pacific Manchester looks beyond impressive to the eye. So when the next stand was making its way to our table, I almost squealed with delight at the sight of the two candy-floss wands sticking out of the top (yes, I often squeal with delight at the sight of food #sorrynotsorry). And guess what? With a nod to our hometown of Manchester, the candy-floss was infused with none other than Vimto 🙂 Delish!

My favourites of the sweet stand was the chocolate dipped strawberries and the strawberry and lemon tart. My mint tea was the perfect crisp and clean accompaniment to the sweet, creamy flavours of the desserts.
