Brunch at the Chorlton Green Brasserie
We are in the midst of discovering everything our new area, Chorlton Green, has to offer and are particularly excited to sample the culinary delights of the area. So on a dreary, drizzly Monday morning, we headed for some much needed warming brunch at the Chorlton Green Brasserie.
We popped in at about 11.30am, were welcomed with a smile and pulled up a couple of chairs at a table in the back near the kitchen. The place is small but perfectly formed with a counter at the front serving drinks, coffees and homemade delicacies (the scones looked particularly scrumptious!). There was a nice atmosphere in there, even on a quiet morning and you could instantly tell the place is a gem amongst locals.Â
The style is eclectic but not contrived. It’s comfortable and inviting – which is the main thing you want from a good brunch place. The coffees are served in mixed bone china and the furniture is an attractive mish-mash…very Chorlton. I’m not really a coffee drinker, but hubby certainly is and as Chorlton Green Brasserie pride themselves on their coffee, I thought it best to note his opinion of his Cappucino…which was “bloody good” apparently.
Before arriving, I had my heart set on a good old classic and favourite of mine, Eggs Benedict. But when I saw the brasserie’s full breakfast menu, I was instantly swayed by the Veggie English…and I wasn’t disappointed!
This beauty comes with Organic free range eggs (I chose mine poached), Bubble & Squeak (delicious!), Confit tomato, Grilled Portobellini mushrooms, Garlic spinach and door-stop White bread toast (with softened butter). I added baked beans to mine for extra comfort!
Everything tasted fantastic, fresh and look at those colours on the plate! With a dollop of red sauce, I was away and polished the lot off happily. All washed down with fresh apple juice and ice (another one of my favourite things with breakfast).
Hubby opted for the Eggs Benedict, which didn’t disappoint either (I’ll try that next time methinks).
So we were two very happy (and full-up) bunnies. Our two breakfasts, along with 2 coffees and 2 juices came to £21, which I think represents extremely good value for money. I can certainly see this being a regular haunt on a weekend and it’d make the perfect hangover cure…not that I’m ever hungover!
I’m keen to try their lunch and dinner menu too, as it looks impressive and packed full of locally sourced ingredients. Has anyone else been?
