A couple of weeks ago I posted the beautiful maternity lifestyle photoshoot of the gorgeous Parvinder and Blair. Well they kindly agreed to share their newborn photoshoot too – yay for us!
They had a beautiful baby boy and called Nicola Wardle Photography back to have a lifestyle newborn photoshoot – which I think is a great way of documenting this momentous time in their lives. There truly were just too many photos to choose from in this shoot but I’ve picked my 40 or so faves. So sit back, grab a cuppa and enjoy a little nosey into the lives of others…
Lifestyle Newborn Photoshoot in Didsbury
Here’s a little glimpse into the lives of these new parents whilst they are getting to know their little one. You may have been there yourselves, or you may have that all to come, but becoming a parent is a total journey of discovery and uncertainty…
Your names
Parvinder, Blair and baby Jaiya
Location
Didsbury, Manchester
When did you give birth?
August 2016
How old was your little one in these photos?
6 weeks old
How were the first few weeks of parenthood? What you expected?
It was definitely not what we expected. Even though I’ve got plenty of experience looking after little children I think we had a naive, idealistic view of parenting. In reality we had a newborn child who was crying for the majority of the day with what we now understand to be reflux and colic. I was in hospital for at least 10 days where we were on antibiotics after an emergency c section. However, now at 5 months it all seems like a lifetime ago and we are enjoying the everyday joys and challenges of being a family.
What’s the best thing about being a parent?
The morning cuddles and smiles for sure, especially on the weekend when you can just enjoy being a family.
What’s the toughest thing?
The list is long. It’s definitely one of the toughest jobs I’ve had, because you don’t really know if you’re doing it right. Ultimately though, for me it’s the fact that Jaiya has had quite bad reflux. You see him struggling and there’s not a lot you can do for him.
What are the post-its all about?
Haha! Not only do I love my photo to be taken, I also love my sleep. So ever since we first started going out, if I’m asleep and Blair leaves the house before me in the morning, then instead of waking me to say goodbye he would leave me a little note. I started collecting the notes when I became pregnant because I knew there wouldn’t be many notes once the baby arrived. I wasn’t wrong!!
Any words of wisdom to pass on to other soon-to-be or new parents?Â
Your dynamic as a couple changes, not always for the worse but it’s definitely different. You just have to remember you’re all on the same team, especially when you’re sleep deprived.
Which is your favourite shot and why?
For me it’s the one where Blair’s holding Jaiya looking down at him. It’s my best friend with my little man.
For Blair it’s the ones of the three of us on the bed. Our new family all together 🙂
Anything you’d like to add?
I would encourage any family to have the newborn shots taken sooner rather than later, not least because babies change so quickly. Nicola has captured photos of us in the early stages of being a new family in our own home and has created memories that will be cherished forever. We are forever grateful, thank you Nicola.

Notes from me
Thank you so much Parvinder and Blair for letting me share your newborn lifestyle photoshoot and this incredibly wonderful time in your life. You can see why I struggled whittling it down to just 40!
There’s some great advice in there for all us new parents and parents-to-be. I think sometimes we hear all the good things about being a new parent, but not always the struggles or the unexpected, so it’s nice to share these stories and support each other in this epic journey.
Have you considered a lifestyle maternity photoshoot? Do you document your family on camera?
