Manchester Bloggers – #WeBlogMCR meet-up
As a blogger myself, I’ve always found it important to mix with other bloggers. You know, people that are into blogging and don’t glaze over when you say “I’m a blogger”. When I moved up from London and starting blogging more regularly, I really wanted to meet other Manchester bloggers, but found it hard to know where to start and if I’m honest, a little intimidating.
Back in 2013, it felt like there weren’t very many other Manchester bloggers out there, it was very London-centric in the blogging world. This was great as it gave lots of room on the internet and I found my blog appeared high on Google occasionally, but it did feel a bit lonely.Â
Manchester Bloggers
There were a few launches and events, but I didn’t find much opportunity to actually talk to other bloggers, share stories and maybe even strike up a friendship and potential collaboration opportunities. So I started #WeBlogMCR, a Manchester Blogging Collective.
#WeBlogMCR is informal, relaxed and full of actual blogging chat. It’s a place where people can turn up on their own, knowing no-one and leave with a bunch of awesome friends. It’s somewhere where people can ask other actual bloggers how WordPress works, or what hashtags they should be using on Instagram. It’s somewhere for people to not feel silly or vain when taking endless selfies, until they get that perfect one.
The meet-ups have always been somewhere cool in Manchester, with some freebies, drinks and nibbles. But they’re not for people to turn-up, hide-away in the corner with their mates, grab and goody-bag and go. No, there’s plenty of these events out there. The #WeBlogMCR meet-ups are for Manchester bloggers to come, socialise, ask all those questions that you think might be silly and learn from each other.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been blogging for a week or a decade, if you’ve got 5 followers or 5,000. If you’re a Manchester blogger and want to meet others and learn more about your industry, then the #WeBlogMCR collective is for you. Head over to the Facebook page and get in touch to add yourself to the mailing list.
It’s an awesome bunch, I promise!
Maybe see you at the next meet-up!
