Our little lady is quite the jet-setter already, having been on 4 flights in her short 7 months on this planet. I hate flying anyway and find the whole shenanigan a right faff and quite stressful. Add a baby to the mix and I was full of anxiety. And guess what, it actually wasn’t that bad and flight number 4 was even, dare I say it, quite relaxed.

Antica Osteria – Lucca, Tuscany

On our recent trip to Tuscany, we headed back to where is quickly becoming one of our favourite places to spend time – Lucca. It was a gloriously sunny day and we were hungry…

After wondering through the town and enjoying perusing the windows of the stunning shops, we stumbled across a little courtyard filled with perfectly set tables and fairy-lights in the trees. A promising start for an al fresco dining experience. We quickly had a glance at the menu and all agreed this would be our spot for a special lunch. Who else needs a digital detox?

So if you’re anything like me (and I’m a bit ashamed to say this), the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning, is grab your phone and check your social media and messages. Then you get up and brush your teeth, then you probably check your Facebook. Then you have a bowl of cereal, which you eat, balancing the bowl on your lap, the spoon in one hand and your phone in the other. Then you go about your day, intermittently responding to the vibration in your pocket or handbag, tweeting about what you’re wearing, instagramming a picture of what you’re eating and texting your other half regular updates. Then you get home, Google a recipe for dinner or order a take-away via an app and have a little read through the latest posts on your blog roll. Then, if you’re feeling tired, you’ll have a bath (the perfect opportunity to flick through Twitter, taking much care and attention not to drop your phone in the water) or you’ll put your feet-up in front of the telly, watching the latest Netflix box set, with one eye on the Whatsapp alerts popping-up. Then before you know it, it’s time for bed and you climb in between those crisp, cold sheets, have one final glimpse at all your social media accounts and then pop your phone onto vibrate (so you can still hear it if a notification comes through), as you close your eyes and try to unwind before drifting off to sleep.Continue reading
