A Mate Date at The Botanist Didsbury – The Perfect Local

I love going out to eat and drink and I love going out to eat and drink locally even better! So when I heard about The Botanist Didsbury opening, I was chuffed that I’d have another great pub-restaurant to add to my list of “locals”.

You may be aware of The Botanist as there are a few of them about in the North now, including one in Manchester City Centre. The interiors of The Botanist are beautiful, comfortable and cool and they do some great food, drinks and cocktails.

So off I went on a #MateDate with my friend Emily (who blogs at Film and Fizz) on a rare night out midweek and couldn’t wait to get stuck into some serious grub and chat….Continue reading

This evening’s date was the gorgeous Stacey, who was equally pleased that there’s another great spot to hit on an evening out in Altrincham, rather than having to venture to town or the Trafford Centre as many have done previously.

Altrincham or “Alty” has definitely developed a bit of a foodie “scene” since I moved to South Manchester and has a great vibe and an eclectic mix of restaurants, bars and market stalls…Continue reading

Date Night Australasia

Being parents and owners of our own businesses, a date night is a rarity in our household these days. But we try to get out as a couple as much as we can and have some “together” time…cheesey I know. It helps that we’re both foodies and drinkies (is that a word?), and one of our favourite haunts in the city centre is Australasia, so that’s where we went for a recent evening out.

I can, hands down, demolish the entire menu at Australasia, but I do try to exercise some restraint. There’s two ways to eat there – the usual, starter – main – dessert, or a tapas style series of small plates. This time round we shared two small plates, then a big plate each…then a dessert…each. Continue reading
