Personality Test

So recently I stumbled across a blog on personality tests and of course, I totally bought into it and did one myself!

I did the 16 Personalities test. It’s free, doesn’t involve registering or signing-up to anything and is pretty in-depth. There’s 60 questions and you need to think about genuinely answering each one. Your answers are based on how strongly you agree or disagree with a statement. Be honest!

Once you’ve answered all the questions, you get matched to a ‘personality type’. Exciting!

Mine was the ‘ENFJ Personality type’!

You can then click through to a description and more in-depth information on what this personality type means for different areas of your life (strengths, weakness, relationships, career etc). So of course I read on to see how accurate it was…and scarily, it pretty much hit the proverbial nail on the head!

Here’s a few bits that I’ve pulled out from each section that seem to ring true to me…

Representing approximately 2 percent of all people, people with the ENFJ personality type tend to be very influential, often without making any conscious efforts to increase their influence. ENFJs are genuinely interested in other people and radiate authenticity, concern and altruism – not surprisingly, those who surround the ENFJ usually find them very inspiring and likeable.

The description says we’re charismatic and eloquent, as well as being very intuitive. This is probably true (charismatic is clearly debatable!).

Weaknessses: Often too sensitive. Deep down, ENFJs are sensitive and emotional individuals who can get hurt and disappointed very easily. They may also worry too much about other people’s feelings and well-being and have a highly fluctuating self-esteem.

Scarily, this is all pretty accurate. I always see my sensitivity as a weakness and it’s something I’ve consciously tried to control as I’ve gotten older. This feeling ties into the anxiety and stress I occasionally experience…I’m always being told I’m a worrier and it’s usually because I’m trying to please people! I do get disappointed easily and sometimes know it’s totally unreasonable to feel that way!

Relationships: ENFJs take their obligations very seriously and are likely to do everything to create and maintain a solid relationship.

Ahhh I hope this is true! I certainly feel it is.

Sexual intimacy: ENFJs tend to be very passionate and dedicated lovers, doing their best to make sure that their partner is feeling happy. That being said, their J trait is likely to introduce a bit of routine and predictability (which may actually be a stabilising factor) into their sexual life.

Hmmm…I’m sure hubby would have something to say about that! Moving on…

Work/career: have extraordinary social and networking skills and would be brilliant sales representatives, consultants or HR administrators. ENFJs are very vulnerable to criticism and should stay away from stressful careers.People with this personality type are also really creative, organised and honest – this makes them excellent psychologists, event coordinators or politicians. Need constant approval from other people in order to feel satisfied and happy – if this is not forthcoming, the ENFJ may burn out very quickly and move to another career path or project. May get overworked if they receive too many requests for assistance.

This one is very accurate for me. My current job is based around networking and sales, working with people every day. My previous jobs have been event organising. I do get knocked by criticism, though I always take it on board! And motivation and approval is key for me, as I’m particularly conscientious and want to please and be good at what I do. I definitely take on a lot of work and try to help others, which leads to me getting that ‘sinking’ feeling at times. Staying away from stressful careers…oops!

I don’t alway buy into these things, but this personality test seems pretty accurate to me! And not just a few choice bits out of hundreds of sweeping statements that could be about anyone…a lot of it rings true to me and my everyday life!

What do you think? What personality type did you get and do you think it was accurate?
