Dog walking in Delamere Forest

So with the hottest weekend of the year upon us and nothing to do, we decided to spend our Saturday on a lovely long dog walk with Bobbi in Delamere Forest.

Delamere is about 45 mins outside of Manchester towards Chester/Liverpool way. It’s a very quaint part of the world and thrives in the sunshine, with lots of lush green leaves and trees. We drove and there’s plenty of parking, very reasonably priced at £1 per hour which put you at the beginning of many walking trails of varying lengths and distances. We chose to park in Whitefield Car Park which is just across the road from a lovely walking trail through the forest and around the lake.

Bobbi was in her element, frolicking and leaping through the bushes and woods. As it was so hot, Delamere is perfect as there’s lots of shade, so you can be outside for longer and it’s better for dogs. We passed lots of other couples, dog-walkers and families, but it wasn’t busy at all – it felt very peaceful and secluded.

A day at Wimbledon 2013

With Centre Court tickets in hand, we made our way to Wimbledon 2013 for the Men’s Quarter Finals, featuring Andy Murray last Wednesday. And what a day it was!

We enjoyed Prosecco and Pimms on Murray Mount before heading into watch the Men’s Quarter Finals on Centre Court and what turned out to be an incredibly riveting 5-set match of tennis. Lucky me and hubby.

So we caught the Virgin train from Manchester to London on Tuesday night and stayed over at my folks place. Waking up bright and early on Wednesday morning, we were both really excited that we’d got tickets in this year’s ballot to Wimbledon. We made our way there via Charing Cross Station, so we could enjoy a leisurely walk along the Thames and over to Waterloo. I love London!

Here’s our view from Waterloo Bridge. Stunning! Although overcast, we could feel the warmth in the air and I was dressed for a Summer soiree 🙂

Holly goes lightly…an introduction

So I’m Holly and I’ve decided to write a blog. This blog is going to be about things that inspire me, things that I think are cool, things that I experience that I think are worth sharing , things that make me happy and a few bits in between. I guess you could call it a lifestyle blog…maybe. I’m not sure yet. I’ll let you decide that. Cue Hollygoeslightly.co.uk (sharp intake of breath!)…

I like to keep things light, informal and fun. I try not to take things too seriously and I really enjoy finding and looking at awesome stuff. Some of that stuff, I’ll talk about here, because hopefully other people will think it’s awesome too.
