What is engineered wood flooring?

Flooring caused so much debate, chat and worry when planning our renovation project. We love parquet flooring, but the price to have it fit was extortionate and with circa 50 squared-metres to cover, we couldn’t risk doing it ourselves (it would have taken years!). So our other options were laminate or engineered wood. So I thought I’d put this post together to talk about engineered wood flooring, in case like me, you didn’t know what it was!

For many, you can’t beat the look and feel of a genuine wooden floor, but it can be expensive and isn’t necessarily the most practical, so engineered wood flooring is a great alternative. ,

Home Trends I’m Loving

It feels like we’ve been “nearing the end” of our renovation for months now. The project has only run over by a few weeks in fact and we’ve not been rushing it, as we’ve had our current house to sell and a lot of work on!

Because we are finishing the renovation ourselves (ie. painting, decorating, styling), we also wanted to make sure we didn’t make any rushed decisions that we’d end up wanting to change in a few month’s time.

So I’ve been looking to interior and home magazines, blogs and good old Pinterest, for home trends that I can take inspiration from. We both have an electic sense of style, but one thing we both agree on, is that we want to create a sense of space in our new home and not clutter it with random things that we don’t really need.

Storage will be key! We don’t really want anything on show that we don’t like looking at!

Small Bathroom Makeover Tips

Thinking about the design of our new place and the room sizes this week. Particularly the bathrooms. Our family bathroom will be a decent size, but our downstairs shower room will be pretty cosy! So it’s going to be vital to make it look and feel bigger, so people actually use it and it’s not just a wasted room.

Decorating small rooms is never easy. You have to be particularly careful about the colours you choose, and the layout. If you get either of these elements wrong, you can easily end up making the space seem even smaller.
